About Conway's Game of Life
Invented by John Conway in 1970. Every cell looks at its 8 neighbors: 2-3 living neighbors keeps a living cell alive, exactly 3 brings a dead cell to life, everything else dies. These four rules alone produce still lifes, oscillators, and spaceships like the Glider.
This version
The grid wraps at the edges (a torus) — patterns drifting off one side reappear on the other. "Longest run" tracks the most generations survived before dying out or settling into a stable/repeating state, saved in your browser.
